Room:
- Private feeling and set back from the street with a view out onto the front leafy garden.
- Has a built-in desk and bookshelves along one wall; great for a student or someone regularly working from home.
- Comfortably fits a queen or double bed.
Parking:
Available on the verge - not under cover.
The house:
- A large kitchen with gas cooking.
- Gas heating for common areas - cozy in winter.
- Big shady trees surround the property keeping it cool in summer; a paved courtyard around the side is lovely then too (see photo).
- There will be 4 of us in the main house who share a bathroom, and in addition there is a granny flat (not on offer) which has its own ensuite.
- The vibe is very much lived-in shabby chic but clean. The place has been a privately owned share-house for more than 13 years now. It's the sort of place where you're welcome to put up picture hooks or paint your own room.
Transport:
- 7 minute walk to the tram stop into the city.
- A 30 minute walk or 15 minute bike ride or 10 min drive from ANU and the city.
- 10 minute walk to the bus to get to Belconnen.
Lease:
Ideally we’d like someone longer term (12+ months) for continuity’s sake, but may consider a shorter stay (i.e. 6 months).
We will be asking housemates to sign the 12-month lease, which commences in April.
However … we manage tenancy ourselves (i.e we pick who we live with, and organise a replacement if someone moves out) and being on the lease doesn’t mean you’re locked in if your circumstances change.
Utilities:
Gas, electricity and water are all split evenly. Absence from the house for periods of a week or more at a time will be adjusted for accordingly.
Internet:
We have household wifi; $16 a month.
Pets:
4 chickens occasionally free-range in the backyard, and a number of native birds frequent the yard. So while we are open to herbivores, e.g. rabbits and guinea pigs, this is probably not a dog or cat friendly home.
